Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the response. Lincoln County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is kept as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive certain technical details whenever a page loads, including:
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The browser name and version in use
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is provided
- The date and time of each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site, such as which pages draw traffic and where a visit ends. Analytics providers combine this usage information for reporting. You may block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the website and maintaining reliable page speed
- Routing a search request to the appropriate outside service
- Measuring which material is useful and what may need improvement
- Diagnosing errors and resolving technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lincoln County Criminal History does not own, assemble, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It provides general information about requesting Lincoln County records from the Sheriff's Office, the local courts, the Nevada Department of Public Safety Records Bureau and Central Repository, and the Nevada Sex Offender Registry and Community Notification Website. This is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Nevada courts, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites to select targeted advertisements. That tracking occurs through the provider's systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may nevertheless be received by:
- Outside search providers that process a query
- Analytics vendors that measure use and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on the site
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security measures are used to protect collected information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Your place of residence may give you additional rights concerning personal data. Nevada's Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, governs access to records held by Nevada government offices. NRS Chapter 179A separately controls criminal-history records and their dissemination through the Nevada Central Repository. Those laws apply to official records and do not turn this privately operated resource into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of your personal data
- Decline certain forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised from time to time. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date. Review the policy periodically to remain aware of current information practices.
Effective date: August 1, 2026
